I'm using a free web space provider to host these ebooks so they are subject to being deleted by the provider whenever the files have not been accessed by anyone within a 90 day period.

Downloading instructions:
- click the link of the cookbook you want
- scroll down on the page that appears and click the "free" button
- on the next page that appears, select level 3, key in the 4 digit/letter password on the page and click the download button

Thanks Irene
I reached my limit at the rapidshare site.  LOL!  I found a couple of things I didn't have.  Thanks.

Also try eBay
I've "bought" and downloaded some good recipe e-books from eBay.  You can get many for less than $2.00; I think I paid less than $1.00 for most of my cookbooks.  With many auctions, you also gain re-sale rights, so you can re-sell the e-book on eBay (check the specific auction for this--don't assume every one has free re-sale rights!).  I haven't tried this part, but have gotten tons of good recipes from the e-books.

Forgot to add:
they'd also make nice, inexpensive gifts, as long as the recipient doesn't mind receiving files on their pc.  I bought a beer-making one for DH, for example.

I also love the crafts ones, and the repros of vintage books, such as Dennison's Bogie Book from the 1920's--I make a lot a Hallowen stuff, and the original Bogie Books cost a LOT on ebay--and, since I only want the crafts ideas, the e-book is superior.  Most sellers of these also scan and and bonus pattern templates, and/or offer you a free e-book of the same price.

A bunch of e-books
There where a whole bunch of ebooks (see list above).  The download file was huge plus it was a rar file (alot of people don't have anything to extract rar's).  I am not going to kep alot of them, but just thought if anyone wanted just some of them, I would upload them somewhere fo people to download just the ones they want.

[ Parent ]
I'd like to poke around among those books.
Would they fit on my laptop?  I wouldn't know where to stop downloading.  :-)  I don't know whar rar is.  Do you have to download it all to take any part of it?  Also some things don't copy and paste; I don't know why.  I just get a little hand that does nothing.  (I have a Mac.)

Not uploaded yet.
Jane,  I haven't uploaded these anywhere yet.  It's just a list showing what books are in the download I got.  If you go to PFI forum, then yes you have to download all of them, but if anyone has a place I can upload each of these individually, then you could pick and choose which one you want.

As far as a mac, I have converted extracted them in pdf format.  As long as you can read pdf's, your ok.

Project Gutenberg
An excellent source of public domain books.  I recommend using the word "cookery" in the title search as many of the books are very old.

http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/...

I especially liked:  A Plain Cookery Book for the Working Classes

To calm the wife buy cases of chocolate, to calm the husband buy cases of booze, and to calm the children...... heck the booze and chocolate should work.

If your preps run out
At Project Gutenberg (see previous post for link)
Check out:  Camp Life in the Woods and the Tricks of Trapping and Trap Making

Good knowledge to have should your preps run out.
