Well my backside
is no longer at risk of sucking up small objects ;-)

My household is holding
at a 6. After the initial shock wore off and the fam settled down and we went into some social distancing, we're doing better.

I'm watching to see if this goes H2H2H without any contact from people who have been in Mexico.

Have you seen the story about a new case in NY?

PPF -- NOT a 3
Well, I DO have a problem with anxiety.  It's in my state, not particularly close yet, but I'm not at 3.  I've NEVER been at a 3!!

I will say that I've moved down from 7 to 6, largely due to refreshing my preps.

We have a few CT confirmed cases and
many "probable" cases at Fairfield University which is near here.  Needless to say dormitories are the perfect environment for sharing germs.  It's getting a little too close for comfort - that and the 1000 cases in NYC!

Well, now that it's in my
county, it's a little hard not to bump up my PPF. Sandy Creek is 20-25 minutes from me. We have to travel through it to get to Syracuse. It's a small town.

We were hoping that the girls could go into Watertown with me this weekend, but that isn't going to happen. If there wasn't a case yet here, I was going to take them out. Our social distancing, especially for the girls will be no exposure to towns. Now, we have a unique situation with the schools around here, in that the juniors and seniors from surrounding schools,(and it's quiet a few) are bused into Watertown to a vocational school. So I'm hoping at this time (until I watch the news in an hour) that the suspect case in Sandy Creek is not a junior or senior. If it is, this would mean that the others on their bus where exposed, the classmates from other schools, and the teacher and their classmates at the home school. So, I'm holding my breath. (sigh)

Well, I was relaxing but the law of averages just nixed that...
I live in Elgin, IL and per our county health officials, we have atleast 3 infected folk for our hamlet of 90,000 souls (well, per the last census).

But, got a small surprise that a friend, someone I know, is reporting a coworker officially sick with the hini bug.

Ok ok, so she isn't infected... But it's that my fam is officially just 2 degrees now...

Stupid Darwin, I'm going to kick his ass if I die from this bug. ;P

IN state, beats me if in community
As a retired old guy (63) I do a part time job 4 days a week being a bus aid on a school bus for pre-school kids. Three runs a day, and so far have not noticed any sickness in the kids, and believe me they will be sent to school sick by the parents. So far so good, but carry alcohol based hand sanitizer, masks, and always looking out to see if any flu like looks abound. None so far.

PPF is elevated
I'm very concerned about three things, given that we are in a pandemic and the virus is proving to be highly infectious.
1)When will it acquire Tamiflu resistance?
2)The possibility that it may swap genes or fragments with H5N1;
3)The dismissal of this outbreak by the media and the public as a non-event.

All three of these things are of deep concern, albeit not immediate concern.

well province, not state :-)
but I have to say I'm feeling much more settled now that I have internet access back. About a week ago my computer got a virus- go figure, they get them too:-)and deleted a whole bunch of files from our OS so nothing worked. I thought we had lost EVERYTHING. Very very scary. We had an external hard drive that we backed up once a month and that failed too.

Thankfully a very intelligent local guy was able to fix the whole mess and we didn't lose anything important at all. The worst part was the timing- I felt deaf, dumb, blind and not a little anxious with no FW access when things might escalate quickly.

Needless to say we are planning a backup for our backup now:-)

There are some cases in Manitoba now and my little town is right on the major shipping highway connecting Winnipeg to the North so I expect cases to be popping up here any day, if they're not here already and we just don't know it. I'm much more calm than I thought I'd be and practicing watchful waiting because social distancing is not an option with our work and we aren't 'heading for the hills' unless the illness increases significantly in severity.

Grateful to be here, grateful you are all here.
