Control measures were taken by depopulation, disinfection of bird cages and environment within radius of 100 m from the infected area.

All dead chickens were derived from a large bird market named Pasar Galiran. This market collects birds from many areas to be distributed to other municipalities in Bali.

About 6,000 birds are supplied from Pasar Galiran Klungkung to fulfill the need of Bali markets every day. Birds are coming from many areas outside of Bali with unknown health status. Badiwangsa said Klungkung has no authority to prohibit the incoming birds from outside areas. Klungkung has bird population about 400 thousands birds, and this is insufficient to fulfill the demand. In fact, government of Bali has restricted birds input to Bali, as noted in Governor's Regulation No. 44, 1995, but the straight act of officers at every port of entry to Bali to apply the regulation, is needed.

For controlling the outbreak, Livestock Service is enhancing the disinfectant spraying to 2 times a week.
