Websites for Preparedness Supplies

by: cottontop

Sun Nov 26, 2006 at 20:51:45 PM EST

Many of us use the web for buying preparedness/emergency supplies. I would like for you to list prepardness based websites that you have found , andmay have used. This can be helpful for folks just starting their supplies, and for othrs searching for a particular item.  This is just a partical list.  The full list is on the other site, http://www.fluwikie2...

http://www.backwoods... excellant self reliant magazine

http://www.kaylx.com  bulk herbs

http://www.seedsaver...  seed saver exchange

Home School Legal Defense Association. Lists state laws for every state.

Survivalist type books/videos

Please note that while one can read the archives and daily blog posts, this is definitely a commercial site. Mr. Rawles makes his living from survival preparedness.
I have no problem whatever with this, but I did want to point out that although both FluWiki and Survival Blog are dot-coms, Mr. Rawles' site is definitely more commercial in nature than the Wiki. -LMWatBullRun 12/8/07

Thanks Cottontop, I've put this diary on my hotlist!

RE: Thanks
Your welcome.
I wish it could be better organize, but as people post new sites, it's just impossible.  I hope it helps someone, as much as it has helped me.

Prepardness supplies
I have ordered from Emergency essentials.  With cheap shipping charges, my order took three days for the first order last summer.  Today it is taking eight or nine days to get the order.

Last month I ordered a couple cans through Maple Leaf and my order was delivered in three days.  Shipping was almost as much as the cost of the food.  I like to order four cans a month to add to my preps.  I do switch from fruit to meat to veggies and grains.

Mountain House Foods
I am an avid backpacker and prepper and have both used and prepped food items from Mountain House.  www.mountainhouse.com  They have pouches and number #10 cans which can be prepared without hot water.  Of course, it's best if warm or hot.  They are delicious ! They offer free shipping if your order is like over $100 (even on #10 cans). You can purchase them direct or through other suppliers.

Mountain House
P.S.  I have no affiliation with this company either...

just received an email from them today that they now have...

With brand names ranging from Tabasco and Gatorade to Kraft and items from vinegar and peanut butter to BBQ, Chocolate, Cheese and Carmel sauces to salad dressings

I believe if you put in fluwikie you still get the discount

not affiliated with thm in anyway but I have bought a lot from them

Thanks for the correction AlohaOR
I have not seem any around in my area. Prices were reasonable, depending on what model you like.

Huge durable plastic water bags to put in your bathtub, so you can store potable water in your tubs.

Knives, hatchets, stuff

Gerber (knives not baby food)
Corporate statement:
"Can we turn our cheek to the enemy known as convenience before it makes us helpless? Do we have what it takes to depend solely on ourselves?
As you ponder these questions, we invite you to join us on our mission.
We're GerberĀ®. We design the tools, knives and outdoor gear that are essential, not only for the task at hand, but for bringing back something lost: our self-reliance."

Fiskars Axe

NIght vision can be done with a infared source and video camera.
Commercial sites (as is)

Out door motion sensors - electronic eyes while you sleep.

I own and use the fiskars and gerber stuff but am not affiliated with that or any company nor receive endorsements from any of them. (heck I have trouble just getting a rebate).

Read and choose wisely - mostly I would hate for you to make the wrong descision becasue of my advice.

Another source for edged tools/weapons
Smoky Mountain Knife Works in Tennessee.

When we used to drive South, we really enjoyed shopping in the store, but now I just rely on their catalog.

Their site now says free ground shipping on all orders (probably will go back to "for orders over $100" after Christmas).

I'm just a satisfied customer, for years now.  My favorite small kitchen knives are the Victorinox serrated paring knives.

My dad would live in this place if he could.  He loves it the few times he has been there.  LOL!

MRE Depot for bulk food, etc.
See http://www.newfluwik... for more details...

The supplier is at http://www.mredepot....

I have no financial interest in them.

They have two whse's in Southern CA, one in San Clemente, and another one a bit further north in Orange County, I forget where.  I went to the San Clemente warehouse to pick up my cheese and butter yesterday.

We get a 21% discount from their advertised prices, thanks to our fellow fluwikians who set it up!  Follow the instructions at the fluwiki link above.  If you live anywhere in Southern CA & can pick the stuff up, it's even less expensive, and the canned cheese & butter is wonderful!

Steve, the guy I met at the San Clemente whse is very, very friendly.  He gave me 2 cans of cheese and a jar of cheese FREE, also, to compare different brands.

Trying Font Repair
But based on how we were doing it, all I get is

Closing HTML tag: "< /b >" without a matching opening tag. Either add the missing opening tag or delete this extra one.  < /b >

Can't insert opening tag and still be able to repair the bolding in the originating comment... :-(

A note to SoapBlox is in order, I think...I'll go gently ask them ;-)

Try this
Now it's Bold

Now it's not.

Have to see if it works downstream.

for future reference
We have so many links and physical stuff that keeping it all organized will prevent it from being wasted resources. I say this because I can hardly walk through my garage (going to work on it today).

This information would be more easily found for future reference if placed in the FluWiki and its index. Just another thing for the To Do list.

Thanks for building the list. The only thing I might add is Paladin Press for survivalist type books and videos. http://www.paladin-p...

fredness, I keep any suggested sites listed
in the main text, so everything stays together, and one doesn't have to scroll through the posts, unless they just want to.

Bump. If anyone has
any websites they would like to add, please do.

United we stand: Divided we fall

elderberries on line???
Does anyone have a website where I can order elderberries  to make my own tincture?

Here's an opposing view, though
Elderberry The Wrong Thing To Take

LEG elderberry link here
Try Herbalcom.com, their prices are really good for everything and the shipping cost is a single low fee no matter how much you order.  I get a lot of herbal supplies, and spices from them too.  I particularly like the lavender, it is really fragrant.

[ Parent ]
thanks so much for the resources

[ Parent ]
If anybody has any
links that they would like to add, let me know. We need more resources. I've add one for the EcoFuel.

I'm always searching this subject, so if you have something to look for let me know too.
