I sent a mail to this guy in response to a reported interview with him that was mentioned in the news thread (here's the interview) and got a prompt reply that invited further comments. Help me choose the most effective short reply?
Details below the cut. This may be a good opportunity because (a) this guy is an opposition politician, from the major opposition party, i.e. if he can say sensible things that make the govt look bad it's in his interests to do so (b) because Scottish politics rather prides itself on making a better fist of health than the English. So there's some chance of getting people to listen here, and then that would be a good thing to point other countries' politicians at... well, worth a try, anyway.

So, the most recent H5N1 cluster seems to be expanding, bubbling on with no acknowledgement by the Indonesian public health officials of what seems pretty obvious to us, even halfway around the world.
There is a cluster of unrelated H2H, possibly even H2H2H, and as I expected, TPTB are denying that any such creature exists. Even apparently blaming US biowarfare as the creator of the H5N1 virus, if the translations I have read lately are correct.

I had an unusual opprtunity this weekend to attend a partisan political convention and present a non-partisan topic... pandemic preparedness.

Ok I took the Excel spread sheet from DemfromCT and placed the 2000 population numbers from each county in the State of Florida in it.

when/if a severe pandemics starts, we have a
significantly different new situation.
We are not politically and legally let alone
medically prepared for that.
The current government has no justification
for such a situation. It would be a dramatical
change and it was not a subject in the last election campaign.
I think, there should be immediately new elections
in that case, a representative sample by opinion
poll institutes would be sufficiant, since time
would be sparce.
Parties should present their plans how they would
try to handle a pandemic now, so people can
make up their mind, what they want in a pandemic.
